Croatian
Hrvatski
Croatian belongs to a continuum it shares with Serbian, Bosnian and Montenegrin: spoken, their speakers understand one another without difficulty. What separates them is as much historical and political as linguistic. Croatian is written only in the Latin alphabet, with č, ć, š, ž and đ, and tends to prefer words built on Slavic roots where Serbian more readily accepts loanwords.
