Hungarian

Magyar

Hungarian belongs to the same family as Finnish and Estonian, but split from them so long ago that the kinship is no longer audible at all. Surrounded on every side by Indo-European languages, it remains a linguistic island in the middle of Europe. It has some fifteen cases, practises vowel harmony, and its double accents ő and ű exist in no other language.
