Swedish
Svenska
Swedish is the most spoken of the Scandinavian languages and is official in Finland as well as Sweden. Its definite article is a suffix: hus means house, huset the house. It has a pitch accent that distinguishes otherwise identical words, a rare feature in Europe. Swedish, Norwegian and Danish remain largely mutually intelligible in writing.
