Українська
Ukrainian has four letters Russian does not: і, ї, є and ґ. Its vocabulary is in places closer to Polish than to Russian, a legacy of centuries under Polish-Lithuanian administration. Under the Russian Empire its printing was banned more than once in the nineteenth century, the language being officially held to be a dialect. It is today the second Slavic language by number of speakers.
