Bulgarian
Български
Bulgarian is the grammatical exception of the Slavic world: it lost the case endings all its relatives kept, and gained in exchange a definite article attached to the end of the word. Both traits align it with its Balkan neighbours rather than with its own family. It is also a Bulgarian dialect that gave rise to Old Church Slavonic, the first Slavic language ever written down.
